Thanksgiving on the Rhine

This amazing all-inclusive Thanksgiving Celebration on the Rhine River offers a tour of Burg Rheinstein, a scenic Rhine River cruise with Thanksgiving turkey lunch, visit to Rüdesheim, one of the most famous wine towns on the Rhine River, and more! 

Our Thanksgiving adventure begins on the banks of the Rhine River in the picturesque town of St. Goar where we visit Stefan, our favorite wine purveyor, and his amazing shop, Stefan’s Wine Paradise.   Following a short orientation there will be time to browse for Christmas keepsakes, wine and other goodies.  From here, we directly board our cruise ship, accompanied by Stefan, who will offer an in-depth presentation about German wine-making traditions, regional varieties, and wine tasting (adults only).  Throughout the voyage, Stefan will be available to answer questions and take orders for your favorite wines so you can stock up for the Holidays!  Our cruise travels through one of the most romantic parts of the Rhine with beautiful views of the valley, castles, and ruins as the perfect backdrop for a festive Thanksgiving lunch.

After cruising the Rhine, we travel by bus to Burg Rheinstein, perched like a guardian high above the Rhine Valley for over 700 years.  The Burgundy Garden Courtyard, named for the grapes and wine that have grown here for over 500 years, offers what is arguably the best panoramic view of the river and valley below.  Inside the castle, a tasty snack of Glühwein (mulled wine), hot cocoa, and a freshly baked waffle will be served for your enjoyment as we tour the halls and rooms of the medieval fortress, now magnificently decorated for the holidays.

Our final stop brings us to the heart of the Rheingau Wine Region and the famous town of Rüdesheim, where Christmas spirit in limitless abundance awaits.  A short walk takes you to the center of Old Town, and the “Drosselgasse”, a charming cobblestone alley packed with wineries, taverns, shops, and visitors enjoying the ambiance of this delightful town. Finish the day at the impressive Christmas Market of Nations where over 100 vendors offer an array of handicrafts, decorations, home goods, and delicious holiday indulgences, surrounded by the glow of twinkling Christmas lights.
