Join RTT and guests from all over the world in Munich for Oktoberfest, the most famous of all German festivals!
Day 1: Upon arrival at the Oktoberfest, the day is yours to take in everything this massive festival has to offer. Thrill seekers can push their senses to the limit on a variety of adrenaline-pumping rides. Foodies will find the culinary offerings here do not disappoint; roasted chickens, sausages and fresh baked pretzels are just a few of the highlights. After walking the fairgrounds and working up a thirst, enjoy a beer in one of the mammoth beer tents for the quintessential Oktoberfest experience! After squeezing every last drop of fun out of Oktoberfest we’ll depart around 1900 hrs to the alpine region of Grainau for our hotel, located directly under the Zugspitze mountain. We’ll finish the evening with a hearty Bavarian dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: In the morning, wake to the beautiful alpine view and enjoy a generous Bavarian breakfastbuffet. The day is yours to relax or see more of Bavaria by joining either of the of the optional excursions planned for the day. The Garmisch Partenkirchen excursion provides shuttle service and the opportunity to explore a charming alpine town or perhaps go on your own adventure via the Cog Railway to the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. The Munich excursion offers travel by bus with your tour guide, to see a different side of Munich including a guided stroll through downtown Munich and a visit to the well-known Nymphenburg Castle. Once back at the hotel, the fun continues into the evening with a regional meal offering a variety of Haxe, Pork roast with Dumplings and the famous German cabbage (Sauerkraut). Live Bavarian music provides festive entertainment and the opportunity to learn the famous dance of the “Bavarian Schuaplattla.”
Day 3: Today is dedicated to the art and craft of Bavarian beer. After a bountiful Bavarian breakfast and hotel checkout, we travel to Kloster, the historical heartland of Bavarian Wiessbeirand home to world renowned brew houses like Franziskaner & Löwen Bräu. Here, we tour the hallowed brewing halls of Franziskaner-Wiesebier, where Germany’s most famous Wiessbier has been crafted to the highest standards for almost 700 years. Adopted as a favorite beverage among the Franziskaner Monks, the monastery granted the brewery permission to officially use their name for the beer. During the tour we will discover the rich history behind this amazing beer, including how beer replaced water as a commonplace household beverage in the 1800’s. The rich smell of yeast and soft scent of citrus will whet your appetite for the samples and beer tasting that is waiting at the end of the brewery tour.
