Each fall, hundreds of thousands of pumpkins and their round colorful cousins are brought to the palatial estate of Ludwigsburg’s Palace and for the next three months, turn the estate into a Pumpkin Wonderland. The annual exhibition attracts pumpkin enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy the elaborate displays made up of themed pumpkin sculptures, pumpkin infused delicacies and hundreds of thousands of gorgeous gourds of all shapes and sizes.
Before we visit the lavishly decorated pumpkin paradise, we make a delicious detour to visit the home of Ritter Sport Chocolate. This is home to the nutty, creamy, fruity, sometimes crispy but always most delicious chocolate square, famous well beyond our German borders. Our visit here begins with an interactive tour showcasing the high-quality raw ingredients that go into these delicious chocolate confection cubes. Before we depart, Ritter Sport invites you to visit their fully loaded chocolate shop where you can shop to your hearts sweet content.
Next, we continue on to our main attraction; the Pumpkin Park. This year the park transforms into a fantastic underwater world full of magical sea creatures. Over 450,000 pumpkins have been lovingly carved and shaped to represent life in the ocean. An oversized rainbow fish inspires with magnificent colors, a gigantic jellyfish spreads its tentacles and an imposing submarine invites you to dive along. Well-known stars from film and television such as Ariel the Mermaid and Spongebob Square Pants will be there to “meet & greet” and the huge shark with its wide open mouth will be the perfect backdrop for spectacular selfies – but don’t worry, it won’t bite.
The exhibition would not be complete without a variety of tasty pumpkin inspired food and drinks to indulge on, including those special seasonal adult beverages with an extra kick for mom and dad.
