Each fall, hundreds of thousands of pumpkins and their round colorful cousins are brought to the palatial estate of Ludwigsburg’s Palace and for the next three months, turn the estate into a Pumpkin Wonderland. The annual exhibition attracts pumpkin enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy the elaborate displays made up of themed pumpkin sculptures, pumpkin-infused delicacies and hundreds of thousands of gorgeous gourds of all shapes and sizes.
Before we visit the lavishly decorated pumpkin paradise, we make a delicious detour to visit the home of Ritter Sport Chocolate. This is home to the nutty, creamy, fruity, sometimes crispy but always most delicious chocolate square, famous well beyond our German borders. Our visit here begins with an interactive tour showcasing the high-quality raw ingredients that go into these delicious chocolate confection cubes. Before we depart, Ritter Sport invites you to visit their fully loaded chocolate shop where you can shop to your heart's sweet content.
Next, we continue on to our main attraction; the Pumpkin Park. This year the park transforms into a colorful jungle presenting all kinds of oversize sculptures of the rain forest. From huge leaf cutter ants to a funny parrot, you will see all kinds of fantastic animals that are built from over half a million pumpkins in all shapes and colors. Don’t miss to look for the chameleon. If you are lucky, it will not hide. You may even recognize some well-known film stars such as Mowgli and Baloo for a “meet & greet”.
The exhibition would not be complete without a variety of tasty pumpkin-inspired food and drinks to indulge in, including those special seasonal adult beverages with an extra kick for mom and dad.
