Today starts your exotic, once-in-a-lifetime adventure and the opportunity to start checking things off that bucket list! We begin with an orientation driving tour through Pretoria, the official capital of South Africa. Next, we head north, to Kruger National park, a flagship of wildlife and one of the world’s most beautiful and famous safari destinations. Upon arrival we will check-in at the Game Reserve Lodge, enjoy a delicious dinner of local specialties, and a good night's sleep so we are ready and refreshed to explore this mighty continent when we awake the next day.
Day 3: Safari at Kruger National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, we begin a stunning journey that captures the spirit and soul of Africa. Experience the rugged, wild, African savannah up close on a full-day safari in our comfortable motor coach. The extensive game population in the Kruger National Park is unique in the world. Here we have the fantastic opportunity to see what is called the "Big Five" (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Rhino), a variety of colorful birds, as well as some reptile and amphibian species. An unbelievable number of other impressive and exotic animals will cross our path throughout the day, amidst a near-endless and fascinating landscape that has long been considered the cradle of life. After a fun-filled and exciting day, we return to the lodge where you can relax and watch the blazing African sunset as the surrounding Savanna falls silent. In the evening a delicious dinner will be served at the lodge and provide the perfect chance to review the events of the day and further appreciate the miracles and moments from our safari!
Day 4: Travel Day to Port Elizabeth
After breakfast and hotel checkout, we travel to Johannesburg and depart by air to our next exciting location. Upon arrival in Port Elizabeth, we will make our way to the hotel for check-in with some free time to settle in, if time allows you are free to explore the area. Tonight’s dinner will be served by the hotel, providing the perfect opportunity to wind down and relax before the next part of the trip kicks into high gear!
Day 5: Addo National Park Safari, Garden Route Scenic Drive, Cruise in Knysna
After breakfast and hotel checkout, we have another great opportunity to observe game in their natural habitat at an entirely new location! This adventure takes us to the Addo National Park, a park known for the highest concentration of elephants in South Africa. The half-day excursion will provide more opportunities to see the 'Big Five’. After the safari, we continue along the Garden Route to Knysna, the beautiful pearl of this region. Located right at the Indian Ocean Knysna is framed by mountains, evergreen forests and a picturesque lagoon. After checking in to our hotel here, there will be some free time for you to freshen up before we gather for an early dinner at the hotel. The day is not over yet, but has another gift to offer us so that we may discover a whole new side to Africa’s beautiful bounty. The evening takes us on a guided slow sailing cruise, gliding over the glistening waters of the lagoon, towards the impressive Knysna Heads. On the way, we’ll observe the spectacular marine life of the Indian Ocean and take in the grandeur of the tranquil waterway as the sun sets on another breathtaking day in Africa.
Day 6: Scenic Wine Route, Ostrich Farm Visit, Winery Tour & Tasting
Today is dedicated to South Africa cuisine. After breakfast and hotel checkout, we continue along the Garden Route, via the beautiful Outeniqua Pass, to Oudtshoorn where we visit a typical Ostrich Farm. During an introduction, we learn more about this grand bird, followed by a traditional BBQ. After lunch we continue on Route 62 with spectacular views through the Little Karoo right into the South African wine region. The late afternoon takes us to Stellenbosch, a well-known South African wine town famous for Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Syrah and Chardonnay. Here, we will join the vintner for a tour through the estate’s winery, and learn all about what makes the wine produced here so special. The climate in South Africa is one of the special ingredients, along with the soul and long-standing wine culture. The highlight of our visit here is an in-depth wine tasting before we sit down and enjoy a fabulous dinner right at the vineyard. Later that evening we will continue on to Cape Town, check in to our Hotel.
Day 7: Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope
Before breakfast be sure to send some good vibes towards the sky for a clear day so we can fully enjoy our Table Mountain, which is revered as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. A short gondola ride takes us to the top, where the most amazing view over the Cape Peninsula, all the way to the Cape of Good Hope is waiting to be enjoyed. Next, we continue to the Cape Peninsula, but not before we stop at the Black Marlin Fish restaurant, which overlooks. This meal features the catch of the day that has been pre-ordered for us, providing the chance to sample some of South Africa’s tasty fish. We continue on to the most southern point of the Cape, also called the Cape of Storms due to the ripping currents and fierce seas found here. At the Cape, we board a cog rail train to go up to the high point for another panoramic view. Before we return to the hotel where dinner will be waiting for us, there will be some free time to stroll down to the lighthouse and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the African coast.
Day 8: Free Time in Cape Town, Travel Day
One last time we wake up to this warm and overwhelmingly beautiful country where we enjoy breakfast at the hotel followed by checkout. Today provides some free time to independently enjoy Cape Town for the morning and early afternoon. This mother city is approximately 300 years old and considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world due to its magnificent location, hospitable climate, and delicate Victorian building and style found throughout the city. We invite you to explore quaint cafés, boutiques, and vintage shops found on Long Street. Perhaps one of the many markets for typical souvenirs or even a local site which may have drew your interest. In the afternoon we reunite for the nonstop flight departing in the early evening with arrival in Frankfurt the next morning.
