Wine Country Castles

Morning departure, we travel to Heidelberg. Visit of the city’s castle, an imposing complex of Renaissance buildings. City sightseeing includes the Old Bridge, Germany’s oldest university of 1386 and the Holy Spirit Church, a gothic masterpiece. Time to shop, then drive into the Palatinate wine region and visit the picturesque town of St Martin. During a wine tasting, learn about and saple some of the region’s excellent wines. Visit of Berwartstein castle, the only medieval castle in the region that is still completely intact. As it has never been destroyed it stands as a perfect example of a typical German knight’s castle of the 13th century. After a guided tour of the castle there is time for a snack at the castle's former Knigh's Hall. Evening return.
