Alsatian Escape

Our early morning departure will bring us to the city of Strasbourg where our day begins with a sightseeing tour of the city’s highlights including the “Petit France district”, the cathedral and Place Gutenberg.  Having worked up an appetite exploring Strasbourg’s favorite sites, we will make our way to local brasserie to enjoy a delicious Alsatian lunch of Tarte Flambé and salad.  Before we depart Strasbourg, there will be free time to do a little exploring of your own, be sure to visit the "Rue des Orfèvres" for gourmet patisseries, wine boutiques and deli stores.

Our adventure continues into the heart of the Alsatian wine country where we stop at one of the areas popular winemakers for a tour and tasting.  Here the vigneron (winemaker) will share their expertise about the Alsace wine region and how these varietals are different from other wines produced in France.  Before we depart, there will be a chance to purchase your favorite sampled wines direct from the vineyard.  Our final destination is town of Soufflenheim, celebrated for the pottery that has been created here since the bronze age. Unlike other popular mass-produced pottery found in Europe, the colorful Soufflenheim pottery is still crafted in traditional small batches by only a handful of artisans.  Having enjoyed a full day immersed in the best sites, food, wine and crafts of Alsace it is time to relax during the return ride home.
