Cochem Wine Fest

This special event provides the perfect opportunity for you to gather with friends at a stunning 1000-year-old castle where regal nights once feasted. Here you will enjoy a medieval meal while entertained and lavished with regional delicacies before we cap the day off at the annual Cochem Wine Fest.

Our day begins with a direct travel to the beautiful Mosel Valley, through some of the country’s most picturesque landscapes and most productive wine regions.  As we descend into the lush valley, we’ll make a photo stop just above Reichsburg Castle, where you will be able to have an exceptional and unobstructed view of the castle and surrounding panorama.  Upon arrival in the quaint town of Cochem, your tour guide will provide a walking tour among the charming half-timbered buildings and cobblestone streets to introduce you to the history and sites.

Next, we will venture to Reichsburg Castle, perched high above the river and valley. Castle Reichsburg is over 1,000 years old and proclaimed by local lore to be the original “Sleeping Beauty” castle. Upon arrival, we will be given an orientation tour, getting a unique perspective and behind scenes look into life at a castle.  After working up an appetite touring the grounds, it’s time to dig into a festive medieval regional meal in our private Knight’s Dining Hall featuring rye bread with schmaltz spread, beef soup, a turkey leg, flatbread, cheese, nuts, and grapes. Wine will be served in a souvenir wine mug, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. During the meal, you will be entertained with bawdy stories about medieval table manners and live entertainment, followed by lively Knight’s Games.

As the afternoon becomes early evening, we will return to the town of Cochem where you can independently explore the sites of the town and enjoy the Wine Fest that will be in full swing. The festival provides the perfect opportunity to sample and purchase many varieties of wine that the Mosel Valley is famous for and enjoy the first-class musical entertainment and shows that will be offered on two different stages.  This trip offers you and your friends an unforgettable day of sightseeing, medieval delights, regional wine, and cuisine combined with festival fun!
