Let RTT introduce you to Golden Prague and beer passion in Pilsen on this 2-overnight journey that explores some of Bohemia’s best-loved treasures! This three-day trip offers something for everyone including history, culture, culinary heritage and great shopping for almost anything imaginable. The relaxed pace of this tour affords plenty of free time for wandering off the beaten track into Prague’s side streets, and rustic courtyards, and exploring the city’s many churches, shopping areas and attractions. The highlights of this special trip include a visit to the famous Pilsen Urquell Brewery, where we will learn more about the story of this brewing legend born in 1842 and sample some sensational Czech cuisine along the way!
Day 1: Our adventure begins high above the town of Prague, inside one of the town's oldest Monastery that has been converted into a unique restaurant and microbrewery. Here, you will be served a delicious hearty 3-course Bohemian-style lunch to invigorate and fuel you for the exciting afternoon ahead. To start a potato soup with wild mushrooms will be offered, followed by beef goulash in dark beer sauce with homemade bacon dumplings, red onion and chili peppers, and for dessert Old Bohemian “Trhanec” (fluffy shredded pancake) with sour cream and cinnamon sugar.
After lunch, we join our local guide and expert for a walking tour of Prague and the Castle, the largest preserved fortress from the middle ages in all of Europe. From atop the Castle Hill, you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the city before we descend into the town and cross the Vltava (Moldau) River over the famous Charles Bridge towards, Old Town Square. The Square features buildings belonging to various architectural styles, including the imposingly beautiful 14th century Gothic Church of Our Lady Before Týn, her famous black towers, soaring 200 feet above the square, are one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. In the early evening, we will check in to our 4-star hotel, providing ample time to either relax or venture out on your own for the remainder of the evening.
Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, this legendary city is all yours to explore independently at your own pace for the entire day. Take advantage of the local guide's recommendations from the previous day and also feel free to ask RTT guide for additional suggestions for all the “must-see” places in town. A cruise along the famous river is a great way to experience the city from an entirely different vantage point, and an ideal way to enjoy the city in the evening perhaps as a dinner cruise. Your tour guide can assist you in planning this and other excursions on request.
Day 3: After breakfast and hotel checkout, we travel to Pilsen, home of the original Pilsner Beers and still a major producer of all Czech brews. Upon arrival, will enjoy an in-depth tour in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery where we will learn about the origins and almost 200-year legacy of this famous ale. After learning the history and gaining insights into the manufacturing process we will be rewarded with a sample of the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell Beer in the historical cellars. Before we head back to Ramstein, we will make one final stop at the oldest restaurant in Pilsen, built in 1637, for a delicious traditional lunch of savory beef broth with homemade noodles, beef sirloin in cream sauce with white bread dumplings, cranberries and sour cream and for dessert poppy crumb cake. After this fortifying lunch, you can settle in for a nice nap during the relaxing journey home.
