There are many sparkling wines that claim to be Champagne, but only the bottles of bubbly produced in this specific region of France are given the honored title of “Champagne”. Since 1693 through to contemporary times, popping the cork on a bottle of champagne has been paired with luxury, festivities and special occasions the world over.
Our day beings in Reims, with a visit to the Museum of Surrender, which commemorates the collapse of German military power in 1945. Next, we will visit a traditional champagne house for a total immersion into the world of French Champagne. Each trip will alternating between the luxury brand champagne houses of Vranken Pommery or Champagne Taittinger. Our local guide will take us into the maze of enchanting underground cellars for an in-depth look at how champagne is developed, aged and bottled. Our cellar tour will finish with a tasting of two glasses of different vintages. After the tasting, you will have the opportunity to shop the cellars boutique for your favorite vintages, gifts and associated luxury items.
After this fantastic experience, we relocate to the downtown area of Reims where the reminder of the day is your own to explore the cities sites, local Brasseries or perhaps have another glass of champagne. Be sure to visit the stunning Cathedral Notre Dame de Reims, a beautiful and commanding testament of 13th century Gothic architecture.
