Itinerary: Every first
Saturday in advent, the wanderers arrive in Siegburg. Medieval master
craftsmen, merchants and minstrels put up tents and stalls, display their
wares and enchant the city with their exuberant hustle and bustle. In
approx. 50 market stalls craftsmanship is revived which is nowadays seldom
practiced, or, in some cases, even completely vanished. For over a decade,
this spectacle has been a Siegburg tradition – the genuine market is an
integral part of city life during advent. All this takes place without
electricity and artificial light – an astonishing atmosphere in the heart
of Siegburg’s historic setting! Minstrels, jugglers and entertainers give
hourly onstage displays. An unforgettable experience and an ideal
opportunity to compliment Christmas shopping, as the merchants and peddlers
offer a wide selection of goods: spices and exotic delicacies from the
Orient, elegant robes from Flanders, woodcrafts from Germany – and much,
much more!
