Overview: Enjoy one of the largest and most spectacular Easter Markets in Germany in the monastery halls of Kloster Eberbach on the Rhine River. Chocolates, baskets, springtime decorations and eggs, eggs, eggs!

The eggs aren’t just arriving in their pure egg-white color in Eberbach on this weekend, but in their best – au natural, jeweled, in costumes, with body painting, piercings or tattoos! They will lie on the tables of 79 of the best craft experts in Europe. The Easter Egg collection of 2010 is in Kloster Eberbach!

The reputation of the Kloster Eberbach Easter Egg Market has spread throughout all of Germany. The participants come from far and wide to appreciate the quality merchandise. Eggs are available from local production as well as rare and foreign origin. The visitors come from far and wide as well, and many come every year to Eberbach.

From the old ways of egg decorating, anchored in traditional techniques and styles for eggs, new ideas have sprung and developed. They peak in breath-taking etchings and cuttings, artful decorations, and experiments with new material combinations. Whoever is overwhelmed by all the decorations can contemplate the natural eggs, each a small wonder in form and color. Splinters fly with the woodcarvers as they transform wooden eggs into "hollow eggs" and the glass blower simply blows them up!

So that the younger visitors also can appreciate the day and the art, there are herbal colors and Easter grasses for sale, with accompanying instructions. Enlarging the display there is even a coloring center where imaginations can be put immediately to the test!

Taste buds are put to the test at various chocolate masters, where Easter bunnies and other subjects tempt the mouth and the eye. A small “Imbiss” offers coffee and cake in the cafeteria. And basket weavers display their wares – useful not only at Easter, but the whole year through!

Itinerary:  RTT takes you to Kloster Eberbach, with a late morning arrival - in time for the exhibition opening. After delighting in the overwhelming Easter displays at the Market, cruise the Rhine River and enjoy your warm lunch, with a small salad on the side as you look at ruins and castles above you on the river slopes. A photo stop at the Niederwald Monument, overlooking the Rhine River caps the day before the bus sets off for home.

After a pleasant afternoon, depart for points of origin with approximate time of return at 6 p.m.
