Overview: Join
guests from all over the world on the ‘Wies’n ‘ where the festival began
over 190 years ago as a wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig and
Therese von Sax-Hildburghousen. Join us for a tour to the world famous
Oktoberfest ‘08 in Munich, a celebration lasting only 16 days annually.
Roller coaster rides, merry-go-rounds, bumper cars – to mention only a few
of the rides – provide the backdrop for the ‘Wiesn’ merriment.
Itinerary:
Departing
from our pickup points to travel directly to Munich, arrive just in time for
lunch (not included). Have the afternoon and evening to enjoy the
Bavarian-baroque high-life at the fest, sampling the entertainment as well
as the culinary spectacle. The smell of spit-roasted fish, sugared almonds,
Turkish delight and roasted chickens are all as much part of the experience
as a triple-loop on the most modern roller coaster. The unique mixture of
tradition and progress is the secret of this mammoth event.
The middle
of the night draws near & we depart Munich as the sea of lights at the foot
of the Bavaria statue glows - and the beer tent festivities are drawing to a
close. Our hotel is located in Grainau, directly under the Zugspitz. After
hotel check in (about 11 p.m.), guests can have a leisurely night’s rest and
wake to view Europe’s highest mountain (weather permitting, of course!).
Enjoy a generous Bavarian breakfast buffet before checking out and departing
to see some different views of Munich – a walking tour of the city center.
Top off your Munich experience with free time and maybe a late lunch of
typical sausages in the famous Hofbraeuhaus restaurant (not included). Our
travellers can relax as the motor coach returns to our points of origin
around 9:30 p.m.
