Overview:
Nestled in the Mosel Valley, behind a few rocky hills, is the charming
town of Cochem. This quaint town has something for everyone.
Long ago it was the home of ghosts and robbers, whose stories you will
hear about on the Reichsburg Castle tour. See some of the medieval
houses in the town of Cochem before walking up to the castle, high above
the town center.
At the castle, a special tour will show our traveling ghosts and robbers
many exciting corners of the castle, like the castle tower, parapets and
the dungeon! The medieval life within these historic walls will be
explained and relived. Construction of the medieval defenses will be
visually explained. There is nothing scary, but interesting information
and entertainment for our knights and damsels who are visiting.
Visitors are encouraged to come in costumes of medieval knights, ladies,
servants and farmers, as well as ghosts or robbers! Medieval-style
dinner follows in the Knight’s restaurant or hall, where guests eat as
in the days of old – with their fingers – and enjoy our special medieval
menu of chicken legs with flat bread, and modern additions of apple
juice soda and an ice cream dessert.
