Overview:
Nestled in the Mosel River Valley behind a few rocky hills is the
charming town of Cochem. This quaint town has something for everyone.
Discover the fairy tale Reichsburg Castle, perched on a hill 330 feet
above the Mosel River. This castle’s history dates back to 1000 A.D.,
and local legend claims it to be the castle of Sleeping Beauty.
After arriving in Cochem, see some of the medieval houses and pedestrian
shopping area in the town of Cochem before walking up to the Castle,
high above the town center. At the castle, a special tour will show our
travelling princesses and robbers many exciting corners of the castle,
including the castle tower, parapets and the dungeon! The medieval life
within these historic walls will be explained and relived. Construction
of the medieval defences will be visually explained. There is nothing
scary, but interesting information and entertainment for our knights and
damsels who are visiting.
Visitors are encouraged to come in costume of medieval knights, ladies,
servants and farmers, as well as ghosts or robbers! Medieval-style
dinner follows in the Knight’s restaurant or hall, there guests eat as
in the days of old – with their fingers – end enjoy our special medieval
menu of chicken legs with flat bread, and modern additions of apple
juice soda and an ice cream stick dessert.
