Itinerary:  We depart in the early morning hours to allow plenty of time for traffic before we arrive at Dachau.  A breakfast stop can usually be provided en route (Euros required).  A visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp memorial is a no-nonsense arrival to the stark reality of Bavaria six decades ago.  Through a film and an audio-guided visit to sites where people suffered you will have an appreciation of the atrocities which took place there.  The 2 hour stay at Dachau includes an opportunity to view the film and walk the audio-guided tour.  Do it at your own pace with the audio guide to have your personal experience of Dachau!

The city of Munich has its own place in history, and in the hearts of the Bavarian people!  You will have a chance to see what makes it near and dear to them as you see the Olympic Village, the Marienplatz with the popular statue of Mary, the Frauenkirche (the landmark of Munich) and the most popular musical clock in the tower of the Rathaus. Free time here will allow you the opportunity to test your eating, sightseeing and shopping skills. The Hofbraeuhaus may call to you for some sausage and a “Mass” of beer – as it has called to many others since 1644!  Maybe you’ll decide to visit the German Technical Museum on the Museum Island and “learn by doing” at some of their exciting exhibits. Or will you climb the 306 steps in the Church of St. Peter (Munich’s oldest church) to appreciate the 360 view of the city?

At about 5 p.m. the bus sets out for the return to points of origin, with a stop for refreshments en route.  Return to points of origin about 11 p.m.
