Port Said port was constructed with the digging of the Suez Canal in 1869.
It is located in the Suez Canal at its northern entrance on the Mediterranean sea. Due to its unique location, Port Said is considered as a touring port with the annual rate of tourist ships calling at the port reaching 470 ships per year. Tourists and passengers on these ships can enjoy their time either by spending a day touring around Port Said City or traveling to see monuments and historical places in and around Cairo and Port Said.
